Ray Kaminsky, Piedmont & Delta Style Blues Musician

When Ray retired from the corporate world, in the Spring of 2010,  he was finally able to turn his attention to the real love of his life: music. He and Ellen have been involved heavily in booking, promoting and supporting folk and blues music through festivals, coffee houses and folk clubs since the '70s.

In addition to supporting music, Ray is also an accomplished musician; he performs live and has several very successful albums of his own.
His album, Ghosts of the Blues won the 2001 WAMMIE for Best Blues Album in Washington.

Ray performs American blues in the Piedmont and Delta bottleneck traditional acoustic forms.   He grew up in the ich blues heritage of Chicago and has been performing since the mid-1960’s in nightclubs, concert venues, festivals, radio and television performances from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic.  When performing live, he plays both a vintage Martin acoustic and a custom made, Ron Phillips steel-bodied guitar.

With a diverse musical background in traditional and contemporary folk music, acoustic rock, jazz and classical guitar styles, Ray brings a rich depth and phrasing to finger picking blues and vocal accompaniments.  He performs songs primarily rooted in the 1800’s through the 1930’s by Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Reverend Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt and others.    He's studied Piedmont blues with the legendary Bowling Green John Cephas and Paul Geremia, and Delta style with slide masters Lonnie Pickford, Scott Ainslie and Steve James.  And he's performed shared the stage with John Jackson, Mary Flower, Guy Davis, Catfish Hodge and Josh White, Jr. at festivals and clubs on the East Coast.

Ray’s highly successful albums enjoy repeated air play on National Public Radio, XM Radio and local commercial stations.   His Ghosts of the Blues won the 2001 WAMMIE for Blues Recording of the Year-- only the second acoustic blues recording to win that honor since the awards were founded in 1985. In addition, his other two blues recordings, Barker Hill Blues (1997) and Roadhouse Blues (2003), each received WAMMIE nominations.

Ray also appears on several compilation albums, including the nationally distributed Oasis Blues sampler.  To learn more Ray's music (listen to clips, buy, etc), check out Ray's music site at http://www.earbuzz.com/raykaminsky

Ellen Kaminsky is The Elevator Speech Therapist™

Connecting people who have something in common is her passion; teaching them how to turn that conversation into a relationship is her gift.  Ellen is a marketing specialist who focuses business message development for those who build their business through networking.  She likes to tell people she is "in the business of managing First Impressions and Second Chances" which means she can help a business learn exactly what to say when first asked "What do you do?" so that others respond with "Tell me more!"

She offers message branding and networking advice for entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and small businesses on her web site (www.TheElevatorSpeechTherapist.com), her blog, and she offers daily tips via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

"If you build your business through networking, your first impression – your elevator speech – must be compelling.  You have 7-10 seconds to capture the interest of the listener.  If successful, you’ll hear: “Tell me more about your business!” When that happens, you earn a second chance to explain your business and turn casual contacts into profitable clients."

"The most important thing to understand about an elevator speech is it simply opens the door.  My proprietary Problem/Solution/Result Set™ system takes you through that door and presents you with unlimited opportunities to convert casual contacts into profitable clients.
